Autumn Love Songs

"Miracles occur naturally as expressions of love.
The real miracle is the love that inspires them.
In this sense everything that comes from love is a miracle."
Marianne Williamson

Love has no limits.  It is a force that can transform the world and change the beings who experience it into healing forces for the planet.

Back in 1969, John Rendall and Anthony Bourke (Ace Berg) saw a zoo-raised, lion cub for sale in Harrods.  Troubled at its small cage and how lonely it looked, they decided to bring him home.

Even though they found a local minister who granted the lion, now named "Christian," the opportunity to exercise in the churchyard, he soon outgrew even this place.  Authorities finally forced them to give up their friend.  They realized that the best possible solution for Christian would be to try and introduce him back into the wild in Africa.  They arranged to have him live on the Kora Reserve in Kenya. (This is the place where the late George Adamson lived out his life's mission supporting rescued lions.)

A year later, the men wanted to visit their lion friend.  The sanctuary park officials in Christian's new home told them that he had assimilated so well he now had his own pride.  Christian had become wild again.  John and Anthony were told that Christian wouldn't remember them.

Undaunted, the men went to Africa anyway.  After searching for hours, the wild lion not only remembered them, he jumped into their arms and hugged them!  remarkably, Christian even introduced his old friends to his new pride.  With the aid of Christian's direction, all the lions welcomed them.

Whomever you love whether human, animal, bird, plant or landscape feature YOUR love can support a change in the world that can touch many other people.

Here is Doug Sues with his late friend, Bart.  (www.vitalground.org)

The work of Doug Sues with the grizzly bears is another such example.  The relationship Doug and his wife Lynne had with Bart their famous "actor" bear moved them to create Vital Ground (www.vitalground.org).  This organization is involved with recovering and reconnecting fragmented landscapes for the purpose of creating and preserving habitat and bio-diversity.  They believe that in protecting and expanding habitat and migration corridors that are important to the Great Bear, their work will benefit entire animal and plant communities in the wildest, yet most imperiled places left on the North American continent.

As you watch this video, you can see the love that these people and bear shared.

Now don't get the idea that I'm advocating that you try and tame a bear or live with a lion!  Rather, I'm suggesting that you find a being with whom you can step into relationship or deepen one you already enjoy.  It can be a rescued cat, a foster child or an estranged family member.  It doesn't matter who, just that you open up your magnificent heart and let the power of your love change you and your world.

As the Summer draws to a close and Autumn comes again, let us remember that LOVE is the only true antidote to fear.  The artificial boundaries that separate our hearts from each other, and other species, are an illusion.  We are part of one miraculous WHOLE!

"In dreams and in love there are no impossibilities."
Janos Arnay
